Fall 2023 Registration

Thank you for your interest in our school-based programming.

For all of YouthNet’s program, we have a two-step registration. First, you fill out and sign the registration form to indicate which days and activities your child is interested in. Because we receive a lot of request, we will follow up with you to confirm whether your child will be participating in the programs you have registered them for. We choose 22 youth in the after-school program and 36 youth in the lunch program, based on all the registration forms we receive and try to make it as equitable a process as possible. Slight preference is given to youths who have previously participated in YouthNet programming. By Friday September 15 2023 you will receive a phone call or text to confirm registration and discuss your child’s participation.

Please ensure you read all the details in each form, since there is important information included that may answer any questions you have. We would ask that you please review our community guidelines and discuss behavioural expectations with your child as you see fit.

After-school Program is for any child in the neighbourhood, between grades 2 -6. We pick kids up at Joseph Howe School after the dismissal bell, or you can arrange for your child to meet us at YouthNet around 3pm. Starts Monday September 25 2023.

Lunch Program is for anyone attending Joseph Howe School. We choose participants based on the need determined by JHS staff and administration. Starts Monday September 18 2023.

Junior Leadership program is for kids who have started grade 7 and wish to remain at YouthNet. It is a pre-employment program that provides training and honorarium pay for up to 15 Junior Leaders who work once a week in the After-school program throughout the school year. We will be selecting Junior Leaders based on their attitude and interest in our training sessions in October 2023.

Teen Program is for any youth in grade 7 and up who wish to come to YouthNet for self directed programming and dinner twice a week from 5-7pm. For youth ages 12-17 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We offer self-led unstructured programming and organize activities throughout the city. Start date TBD, but anticipated after Thanksgiving, around October 17 2023
